Melimage - live projection performances
Created by Emilio Arteaga, a musician and artist from Uruguay, this experiment began to take form in Spain several years ago to add further dimension to stage presentations.
Emilio took part in a number of musical performances where he projected 2D and 3D video images onto band members and carefully placed stage props.
Melimage evolved again when Emilio, his partner Brigitte and their son Sebastian created an exhibition called 'Poubel'Art' which they performed throughout Europe. Using only recycled materials, they combined a light-show of animated automatons with musical performance.
Now in Ireland, Melimage is working toward creating responsive environments for musical and other art performances. This time, the fluid computer generated light-shows combine imagery projected onto natural and man-made surfaces with an atmospheric audio backing to create brillant, engaging trompe l'oeil.
The goal is offer the public a show where the projections and the buildings, trees and props that are projected onto will meld into a performance where the viewer is not sure what is real and what is virtual.
